A sad new, but with all the signs and symptoms before, hardly comes as surprise. Hall seems to have been struggling with both external and internal factors for a long time.
Since Hall is an important part of BFTV, I'm curious to hear what do you guys think about this? Personally I'm getting quite emotional. Not only about Hall but also about the withdrawal of Elena from the scene (if I understood her words correctly). She has been a force that pushed the scene forward, and I don't think she has passed the torch to the next generation.
Besides, together with the closure of 911 last month, this raises a question about the whole underground EDM scene/industry at large. Commercial events and social media are only getting larger, while grassroot venues closing down and people just can't seem to unite their voices anymore, how can we stay true to our identity and defend our culture?
Devastating news. Can't imagine BFTV anywhere but Hall.
If there's still a possibility to hold future events in Hall, I'm sure each of us will do what we can to make it happen. Please keep us updated.
I want to stay hopeful and optimistic. After all the underground music scene had always bounced back stronger everytime it was repressed. But... looking at the politics in Europe, US, or elsewhere in the world; looking at how the "bad guys" keep winning; looking at the young generation getting lost in social media; looking at how the voice of the minority getting distorted. I can't help but wonder if we are yet at the bottom and things will get better from here; or is this just the beginning of something worse. At the same time I do feel excited to see how Hall's premise will be used in the future. At least the door is not completely closed.
Hall has left such a big mark into Baltic club culture and Estonian culture in general, it's so ingrained into the consciousness of the local alternative scene at this point that I believe something will definitely emerge to fill that void eventually. The good thing is that the space still remains available for future use...
I always like to think that the end of one thing is the beginning of another... People will keep finding solutions, because the hunger for everything that Hall was and is will remain. But to answer your question, I think in such a small country, integration within the entire alternative scene is really important. And LUCKILY we do have people who actively stand for that.
For as long as there are people passionate about the music, the culture keeps going, and to be honest, I'm optimistic about the future!
No places in Tallinn (currently) with such industrial vibe tho, but I guess we’ll find a solution for BFTV. Hall will be closed indeed and club as such is gonna end. Rooms remain, BUT… we’ll see.
